I bought my original dress from LightInTheBox.com, a website where you can pick the shape and color of your dress and have it custom made to your specific sizes. Cool right? And I know people who've had sucess stories with their orders and love the website; I guess in my case, I wasn't so lucky....
I ordered my dress a good month and a half before prom, so roughly the middle of March, and as you could see in my last post, I hadn't ordered it in a special size because I wanted it to arrive on time. Well, legit TWO days before prom I get an email saying "We're sorry to inform you, but your dress is having difficulties entering in the US and is stuck in customs in Hong Kong, China". WTF? My dress was made in Wisconsin?! How the hell did it get to china? So basically, the dress wasn't going to arrive until 2 weeks after my prom, so I instantly canceled my order - thank god I got all of my money back - and went on a crazed run to Ross, Nordstrom, Macys, JC Penny's, and other local boutiques. ALL SOLD OUT OF PROM DRESSES.
After a near panic attack I gave in and went to this really snooty, expensive dress shop where a lot of girls from my school got their dresses. (Like 700 dollar dresses) and I was not looking forward to paying a lot for another dress that I probably wouldn't like. But I go in and search the clearance rack and pick out dresses in my size (I had about 12).
The first two dresses were extremely big (I don't know how they were my size, they were more like a size 20 than 14) and so were the next four. Some were too big in the bust and too small in the butt, others were vice versa. Finally I tried on this purple dress which was a little tight, but could be a last resort dress if need be. It was 400 dollars, I still cringe thinking I almost bought that thing, and just to be safe I tried on the last few dresses.
Somehow, whether it be the grace of God or some other higher power, the last dress I tried on fit like a glove! Perfect size, length, and ONLY 200 dollars, which was my price range.
When I had first picked it up, I had been skeptical about the bright clementine - orange color. But it suited my skin tone perfectly.

so all in all, everything worked out and I ended up liking this dress a lot more, but still, it was pretty stressful and I hope next year it goes a lot smoother.
